How do you define good education?
Good Education occurs when all of the student’s needs are met. The student needs to be taught many things for life not just academics. I feel students should be educated academically, relationally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I think all of these aspects should occur in the child’s home and at school.

What is the most important thing you want to pass along to your students?
I hope to foster critical thinking in my students. I always encourage them to think through problems before I help them whether it is with academics or relational issues.

What is your favorite memory or experience in ISW?
I have two favorite memories from this year that have recently replaced others. The first memory was from my birthday, when all of my previous students brought me a rose. The second memory happened as I was leaving to travel home for an emergency. I explained to my students that I was leaving and they all hugged me, shouted “We love you Ms. Toliver!” and “We will miss you!” That moment really made me feel loved and appreciated by my students.

What is something unique you want others to know about yourself?
I like to help others and bring out the best in others. When I lift others up I feel lifted as well.
