What do you consider “excellent education”?

The best education teaches students to love learning, in and out of the classroom. It requires students to think critically and learn from their mistakes. Also, it gives students the skills to collaborate, communicate, and collect information with or from others.

What is the most important thing you want to pass along to your students?

A love of books, reading, and life-long learning!

What is your favorite memory or experience in ISW?

Since I was the second grade teacher at ISW for seven years before I became the ECC & Elementary Vice Principal, I have many fond memories which make it hard to choose only one. Some of the highlights of my time at ISW have been the field trips, outreach projects, Christmas pajama parties, Reading Cafés, cupcake parties, and end-of-the-year camp-outs.

What is something unique you want others to know about yourself?

I have a license for driving motorcycles in the United States and my goal is to one day drive across the country by myself.

What do you consider “excellent education”?

The student that is being educated in all things of life and not just reading, writing, and math has received an excellent education.  They are ones who know how to treat others with dignity and respect.  They show care and compassion for others.  They come to a school where they are nurtured and cared for.  They come to a place where they belong and are wanted.  This is an excellent education.  Educating of the mind, body, and soul is an excellent education.

What is the most important thing you want to pass along to your students?

The love for learning and to always be growing in wisdom.

What is your favorite memory or experience in ISW?

Everyone here is so helpful, kind and caring.  Feels like family.

What is something unique you want others to know about yourself?

I am a person of many talents.  I can build almost anything and fix almost anything.

How do you define a good education?

To me, a good education begins with a foundation of truth. Without a foundation, a student’s education can wash away with seasons. After their foundation, students can begin building knowledge, social awareness, physical aptitude, and unwavering convictions.

What is the most important thing you want to pass along to your students?

As a Director of Admissions and Marketing, I intend to impact our visitors, surrounding community, ISW staff, teachers, and students by loving, serving, leading, and helping them grow to see their full potential and purpose.

What is your favorite memory or experience in ISW?

My favorite experience in ISW was meeting all the staff. When my wife (Michelle) and I first arrived, we were welcomed by everyone. All of the staff genuinely welcomed us, cared for us, and wanted to learn more about us. Over the weeks, staff poured their time and love into my wife’s and my life. Within a matter of weeks, Michelle and I were comfortable and able call China our home.

What is something you want to know about yourself?

I have color vision deficiency, but I still enjoy visual designs.
